Baden is history

During Roman times Baden is known as «Aquae Helveticae».

Baden is visited frequently because of its hot springs, in particular by its neighbour Vindonissa (Windisch).

The Roman lower city, the thermal baths and the upper city with appartments, trade and craft are localised in the Haselfeld in numerous digs. It is assumed that city construction began around 17 B.C.
